If you’re in New York, the cost of vaping might be higher than you think. A new report shows that the average vaper in New York spends OVER $530 a year on disposable vapes. That number is based on moderate use, about two devices a month, with taxes included.

Millions of Dollars Spent Across the State

With around 1.26 million e-cigarette users in New York, that adds up to more than $675 million spent every year on disposable vapes alone. That puts New York among the top states in the country for total vaping spending.

Taxes Play a Big Role

One of the biggest reasons costs are higher in New York are the taxes. The state applies about a 20% tax on retail prices, which pushes up the cost for every device. Even though some states have higher costs, New York still lands in the middle range, showing how taxes can quickly increase what people pay over time.

It’s Not Just About Money

There’s also a growing concern beyond cost. Disposable vapes are creating a lot of waste. Across the country, millions are thrown away every day, adding to environmental problems.

What It Means for New Yorkers

For many people, $500 a year might not seem huge at first. But like a lot of everyday habits, it adds up over time. Whether you’re trying to save money or just be more aware of your spending, this is one cost that’s easy to overlook but hard to ignore once you see the full picture.
