New York Drivers Take Note: Study Finds Some Cars Signal Less Than Others
If you drive anywhere in New York State, you have probably had that moment. Someone switches lanes or turns without using their turn signal, leaving you wondering what they will do next. A new study looked at this exact habit to see which drivers are most likely to skip using their turn signals.
What Researchers Actually Did
A car rental comparison site studied almost 1,500 vehicles at six different intersections. They watched to see whether drivers used their turn signals correctly. They compared the results by vehicle brand.
The Brand With The Most Missed Signals
BMW drivers topped the list. Nearly 20 percent did not signal at intersections. That made them almost three times less likely to signal compared to some other brands in the study.
Other Brands That Ranked High
Mercedes Benz drivers came next, with about 15 percent failing to signal. Renault drivers followed closely behind. Audi and Opel drivers also ranked high on the list for skipping blinkers.

Brands With Lower Numbers
Volkswagen, Volvo, Toyota, and Honda drivers were all under ten percent. Peugeot drivers were the least likely to skip signaling among the brands studied. The study also noticed something about location. At one busy road through a small town, every driver signaled correctly. Researchers think heavier traffic awareness encourages better driving habits.
Something To Think About Next Time You Drive
Whether you are commuting across New York, running errands, or heading out on a road trip, signaling is one of the easiest ways to make roads safer. Honestly, most drivers appreciate knowing what the car ahead is about to do.
