Several school districts across the Southern Tier of New York are being recognized for their performance on the most recent Regents exams, based on new data released by the New York State Education Department.

The results reflect the percentage of students who scored proficient, meaning a level 3 or higher. With several districts performing above the state average, the data shows that students across the Southern Tier are meeting, and often exceeding, expectations on New York State Regents exams.

Only districts with a large enough sample size are included in the publicly released data.

Broome County Highlights

Chenango Forks Central School District reported a 97% proficiency rate, placing it 38th out of more than 600 districts across the state. Maine-Endwell CSD followed closely with 95%. Other strong performers included Windsor (91%), Vestal (88%), and Chenango Valley (87%).

Additional districts such as Susquehanna Valley (85%), Harpursville (83%), and Deposit (79%) also exceeded the statewide averageUnion-Endicott, Johnson City, Binghamton, and Whitney Point rounded out the list, with scores ranging from 77% to 70%.

Chenango County's Notable Scores

Greene CSD came in at 97% while Bainbridge-Guilford CSD reached 94%. Other solid performers included Afton (83%), Norwich (82%), and Sherburne-Earlville (82%).

Cooperstown Leads Otsego County

Cooperstown CSD earned top honors with a 100% proficiency rate, the highest possible and the best in the stateMilford (97%), Oneonta (88%), and several others also posted strong results.

Tioga County: Consistent and Strong

Owego-Apalachin CSD stood out with 98% proficiency.  Tioga CSD (91%), Spencer-Van Etten (90%), and Newark Valley (88%) also scored well above the statewide average of 78%.

Delaware County's Solid Showing

Margaretville (92%), Walton (91%), and Charlotte Valley (90%) led the way. Other districts like South Kortright, Franklin, and Sidney also demonstrated high levels of student achievement.

Cortland County Contributions

Marathon CSD reported an 88% proficiency rateCincinnatus, McGraw, and Homer each posted 84%, and  Cortland City SD rounded out the group at 73%.
