Hoop It Up For ‘JR’ Gaudet and The Gaudet Family
As many of you know, I have officiated basketball for over 30 years and it's something that I truly love. There are so many great things that make it worthwhile. Right now, we are in the middle of the Unified basketball season and if you have a chance to see these youngsters play, it'll bring such joy to your heart.

Another worthwhile event is the Police Week Charity Basketball Tournament and they have asked me to be a part of it again this year. It's their 11th year and it takes place this Saturday, May17th as police officers throughout the state come to the Johnson City Middle School to battle it out on the hardwood for a worthy cause.
Police Week Charity Basketball Tournament In Johnson City
The tournament picks a different charity or cause, and this year, they will honor the Gaudet family! Everyone knows that Binghamton Firefighter John "JR" Gaudet is a true hero and an irreplaceable member of our community! He paid the ultimate sacrifice and here is your opportunity to show support for JR and his family.
Here Is How You Can Help
The police basketball games begin at 12 p.m. and the your paid admission includes entry to all the games, food and drinks, entertainment and more. There'll be gun, basket and cash raffles along with door prizes too. They are collecting baskets for the raffle and you can bring them with you on Saturday.
The championship and consolation games will tip-off at 4 p.m. at the Johnson City Middle School and I'll be officiating one of those games. I would love to see you as we all cheer on the men and women in blue while helping the Gaudet family. I consider this as one of my highlights - not only as a basketball official but being a part of something that helps those who have helped others over themselves.
