Man Stabbed Several Times on Downtown Binghamton Street
Binghamton police say a man was repeatedly stabbed after a nighttime dispute on a downtown street..
Officers were sent to the area of Pine and Carroll streets around 8:55 p.m. Monday after a reported assault.
Police found a 39-year-old man who was bleeding from the chest and mouth. He had sustained several wounds to his upper body.
City fire medics assisted a Superior ambulance unit in providing initial treatment to the injured man on Carroll Street just south of Henry Street.
The man appeared to be conscious when he was placed in the ambulance. He was transported to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment. He was listed in stable condition Tuesday afternoon.
Police officers closed off a section of Carroll Street and placed a half-dozen evidence markers around the area where the man had been found.
Investigators said the assault occurred after an argument erupted involving several people at the bus station at 81 Chenango Street.
A few minutes after the attack occurred, police units were observed around a grassy area in front of a 15-story apartment building at 100 Chenango Place.
Officers interviewed several people in the area, which is a short distance north of where the injured man was found on Carroll Street.
One person who was handcuffed was detained and placed in a police van to be transported to headquarters.
No arrests had been made in connection with the stabbing as of Tuesday afternoon.
