Unveiling The Southern Tier Spicy Meatballs: A Fun Twist For Binghamton’s Baseball Fans
Did you know that National Meatball Day was Sunday, March 9th? I wish I knew because I would have celebrated with meatballs and spaghetti for dinner. Instead, I had meatloaf. Ah, what's the difference...lol!
Speaking of meatballs, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies have announced that in honor of National Meatball Day, the front office has announced that one of the fun things happening during the 20205 season, the team's newest alternate identity, will be the Southern Tier Spicy Meatballs.
In January, the team announced another alternate identity for the 2025 season, the Binghamton Bathtub Donkeys on June 28th and July 30th. According to the description of the logo from the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the Bathtub Donkey is sitting in a tub fit for a baseball player with footers that are made of a baseball bat and ball, a baseball bat scrubber, and a shower cap featuring tiny baseballs. From the tub, bubbles appear to rise into the air.

According to the Rumble Ponies announcement, the Southern Tier Spicy Meatballs idea was an inspiration to our communities rich Italian Heritage. The Spicy Meatballs will feature a new uniform that the team will wear on the field from Thursday, August 14th through Saturday, August 16th, featuring Italian colors of white, red, and green, along with two logos that represent the Italian dish of spaghetti and meatballs.
The Rumble Ponies note that the primary logo will feature a meatball portrayed as an Italian gondolier on a bed of pasta making its way through a river of sauce with a baseball bat fork, and the secondary logo will feature the baseball bat fork of the meatball gondolier with spaghetti noodles wrapped around the utensil.
