
Broome County Is Hosting An After-hours Passport Fair
It's been decades since I've had a passport, but with a scheduled summer's end cruise, I needed to get one. It was an easier process than I thought, and the passport arrived in plenty of time.
A passport can be used in many ways, and during my cruise, it certainly made my experience a smooth one.

If you need to obtain a passport but have trouble going through the process due to time constraints, Broome County may have an answer for you.
On October 9th, Joseph Mihalko, Broome County Clerk, announced an upcoming after-hours passport fair on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Broome County Office Building located at 60 Hawley Street, Binghamton.
Appointments and Applications
Appointments must be made in advance by visiting the passport fair web page. Ground-level parking will be free to persons who make reservations.
Our office is holding this event as a convenience to our friends and neighbors around Broome County who need to obtain a passport but may not be able to come into our downtown Binghamton office during normal business hours. - Broome County Clerk Joe Mihalko
Application forms will be available at the after-hours passport fair, and photos will be taken on site. A copy of the passport application can also be downloaded in advance, should you wish to fill it out in advance through the NYS Travel website.
Documents Required To Bring
- An original or a certified copy of their birth certificate with a raised seal and both parents' names
- Photo Identification
- 2 checks to cover the fees
In addition, applicants need to have the places and dates of birth of their parents to fill out the passport application. For those under the age of 18, parents must be present for a passport application.
Cost Breakdown
Passports cost $130 for adult applications, $100 for children under the age of 16. Another option is a $30 Passport Card ($15 for those under the age of 18), which is good for land and cruise ship travel only.
In addition, there will be a $35 processing fee for each application, plus a $10 fee for passport photos. If the applicant needs an expedited passport, there is an additional fee for the application and expedited return.
