Exploring Otsego County, New York’s Wineries

Found in the heart of Central New York, Otsego County boasts an emerging wine scene that captures the essence of the region's rich agricultural heritage and scenic landscapes. With its rolling hills, fertile valleys, and temperate climate, Otsego County has become a haven for wine enthusiasts seeking unique flavors and picturesque vineyard vistas. We may not be Napa or Niagara, but our wines are nothing to shy away from.

Montezuma Winery

Located in Cooperstown, Montezuma Winery is known for it's cheeky and unique varietals. I visited their retail store last year, and had the privilege of tasting a few. The care and attention to quality that goes in to their products is apparent. I really enjoyed their Fat Frog line, which includes a blush, a red, and a white. Light and whimsical, these are great for mid-summer get togethers.

Pail Shop Vineyards

Pail Shop Vineyards describes themselves as small batch New York wine and sangria. Translated from Spanish and Portuguese, sangria means "bloodletting" due to its color. A mixture of wine and fruit essence, sangria is a great complement to tapas or social engagements that include relaxation. Pail Shop's version comes in a handy bag like apparatus with a built in spout.

Rustic Ridge Winery

Located in Burlington Flats, NY, visitors rave about various aspects of this winery. Reviewers on Yelp rave about the quality of their wines and the affordability of their tasting programs. One reviewer claimed that you'd be a fool to miss this one, noting that the wines are as good as they found them to be in California, while noting the coolness of Rick, one of the owners.
