
Improvised Explosive Device Found in Davenport Home, Police Say
Two Delaware County men are accused of having improvised explosives, a high-capacity ammunition loading device and other illegal items in a home in the Town of Davenport.
Sheriff’s officials say they were called August 7 with a report of an improvised explosive device at a home and arrested 36-year-old Russell Fisher and 58-year-old Joseph Fisher.
Deputies and the New York State Police Bomb Disposal Unit say they found the device and rendered it safe at the location.
A search of the home turned up a number of fireworks and components commonly used to make improvised explosive device. according to investigators.
Russell Fisher is charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon for an explosive substance and was sent to the Delaware County Jail on $5,000 bail.
Investigators say they also discovered Joseph Fisher in possession of the high-capacity ammunition loading device. He is charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon and a violation of unlawfully dealing with fireworks. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
