As Texas and Louisiana continue to clean up from Hurricane Harvey and Florida and the southern east coast brace for Hurricane Irene, the Twin Tiers is remembering the heartache all too well.

September 6-8 is the 6th anniversary of the devastating flooding from Tropical Storm Lee in 2011 from which some have still not recovered.  Several homes remain boarded up.  Some are on the market and some area businesses never reopened after being flooded in 2006 and again in 2011.

Gander Mountain on Harry L. Drive in Johnson City, which its owners earlier this year had said would remain open, will close after all.  The company says it doesn’t want to risk yet another flood.
