Hostage Situation Ends Peacefully in in Worcester, N.Y.
Authorities in Otsego County say a 20-year-old from Worcester New York is accused of holding two people hostage at 2:15 p.m. October 29 in a stand-off that ended without injury.
New York State Police responded to a report of a man with a gun barricaded inside a house on Main Street in Worcester at around quarter after two. The hostages were freed when troopers arrived but Edgar Gonzalez-Francis refused to come out.
A nearby school was locked down. Troopers say attempts to contact Gonzalez-Francis were unsuccessful.
The man was finally located nearby at 5:05 p.m. and arrested without incident. Troopers say they found the shotgun near the home.
Gonzalez-Francis is charged with felony unlawful imprisonment and misdemeanor menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
He was sent to the Otsego County Jail on $15,000 bail.
