Homeless Man Accused of Cooking Meth in Storage Unit
Owego Police say a homeless man is accused of manufacturing methamphetamine in a storage unit on Southside Drive.
Police on patrol noticed a suspicious vehicle at around 11 p.m. July 29 parked in the Tejaris Storage Unit parking lot noticed a strong chemical smell.
48-year-old Joseph Armbruster was found semi-conscious in the unit.
Police say their investigation found the man had been actively making meth using the so-called "one-pot" method in the storage unit.
He is charged with felony counts of unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
The Owego Fire Department and New York State Contaminated Crime Scene Unit were also called to the scene given the volatile nature of the chemicals used in the manufacture of meth. to neutralize the scene.
Armbruster is being held in the Tioga County Jail.
