Holiday Tradition Continues For Fifth Graders at Tioga Hills Elementary.

Each holiday season organizations, businesses, families, and individuals find the time and effort to brighten the holidays for others.

Fifth graders at Tioga Hills Elementary continued their holiday tradition with the Community Box Project.

The pandemic has made the project a little different this year and last week students and their families put together personal care items in shoe boxes at home and brought them to school during their day of attendance.

Once the care items were brought into the classroom, the shoeboxes containing the personal care items  were wrapped and walked down the road to the Park Terrace Community Food Pantry, which is in the basement of the Park Terrace Methodist Church.

According to the news release from the Vestal Central School District, students delivered 55 hand wrapped, hand decorated shoe boxes filled with personal care items to the Apalachin food pantry

Brenda Cronk who is the co-director of the food pantry says there are families that depend on the pantry to help them throughout the year and the donations from the Students are greatly appreciated.

Efforts like the Community Box Project. Really teach our children the importance of helping others and giving back to our community.
