Rush-hour traffic between downtown Binghamton and the South Side was tied up after a collision near the Exchange Street bridge.

The crash at the intersection of North Shore Drive and Exchange Street happened around 4:15 p.m. Thursday.

Police closed the bridge to traffic in northbound traffic for about 45 minutes following the collision.

The crash involved a Toyota RAV4 sport utility vehicle and a Mercedes C300 sedan. After the cars collided, the Toyota struck a pole.

Two occupants of one of the vehicles reportedly were seen running from the area following the collision.

A woman who was believed to have been driving one of the cars was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City.
