A sign commemorating the military service of an Owego woman is to be returned to the owner of the property where the historical marker was removed May 20-21.

The marker in front of what had been World War Two Corporal Margaret Hasting’s home on McMaster Street disappeared over the weekend and was found on Main Street.

The plaque has been turned over to the Owego Police Department and is being picked up by homeowner Gaye Satro but it is believed to have been damaged and may need repairs before being reinstalled.

There have been no arrests.
