Historic Delaware County Church Burns to the Ground
The congregation of a historic church in Delaware County will be holding its services this Sunday at the East Branch Fire hall after their church burned to the ground on November 11.
The fire at the East Branch Harvard Methodist Church is being blamed on a fault in the electrical system. There were no injuries.
The church was built in the 1880s and has served as an anchor in the community for over a century.
Church officials say they are grateful of the efforts of the numerous firefighters who worked at the scene and the outpouring of support from the community.
The church is continuing its food bank mission at the East Branch Community Center on Thursdays with the same hours according to a post on social media and says the holiday bazaar is still scheduled to take place.
