Both the town and the DOT have released advisories warning of the lengthy detours that will be in place until around the 11th of September.

The DOT says crews will be reconstructing two bridge superstructures on State Route 960J between Route 17 and Route 17C with the closure affecting motorists destined for Owego at Exit 65 of State Route 17.

Owego Town Supervisor Donald Catellucci Junior says motorists will be directed to use Exit 66 for Route 17C/434 if you are on Route 17 and if you are on Route 434 or 17C, you will be directed to Exits 66 or 64 to be able to get onto Route 17.  Westbound traffic on 434 or 17C will also be able to use Exit 65.

Motorists are reminded to slow down in the work zones and watch for traffic that may be slowed as drivers try to figure out the detour routes.
