Heroin-Dealing Operation in Delhi Shut Down
Delaware County Sheriff’s officials say the execution of a “high risk” search warrant has resulted in the arrest of three people for alleged narcotics trafficking.
50-year-old Ramar Hassell and 54-year-old Valerie Alexander, both of Delhi along with 25-year-old William Effner of Delancy were arrested on felony charges Monday, November 5.
Sheriff’s Investigators, Deputies and K-9 Ozzie found more than a half pound of bulk packaged heroin and thirty bags of packaged heroin with an estimated street value of over $5,000 as well as marijuana, a scale and drug packaging material.
Hassell, also known as “Pee-Wee” or “Ace”, and Alexander are charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. Haskell is additionally charged with resisting arrest.
Effner is charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument.
Officials say the three are accused of possessing heroin with the intent of selling it. They were sent to the Delaware County Jail on $100,000 bail.
In addition, authorities say they found Effner was on parole for a previous grand larceny conviction.
