Hearing On Endicott Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling Plant Delayed
An expected public hearing on a proposed lithium ion battery recycling plant at the Huron Campus is rescheduled.
The Zoom meeting April 20 was postponed until May 4th just before it was to begin due to the board receiving new information on industrial codes.
The rescheduled meeting is also to be held remotely due to coronavirus distancing the prohibits people from gathering in groups.
Questions can be directed to Mayor Linda Jackson’s office at mayorssec@endicott.ny.com.
The plans for the disposal of lithium-ion batteries commonly used in devices like cell phones have raised concerns about the safety of the plant, the explosive nature of the batteries and the close proximity of the planned facility to homes on Robble Avnue.
