Former Oneonta, New York Healthcare Executive Sentenced

Kevin Harrington, a 50-year-old resident of Oneonta, New York, has been handed a strict sentence following his guilty plea to two counts of mail fraud.

The United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Craig L. Tremaroli, Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Field Office of the FBI, revealed that Harrington has been sentenced to a three-year term of federal probation and must pay over $150,000.00 in restitution to his former employer.

During his employment as the executive director at First Community Care of Bassett, LLC, an affiliate of Bassett Healthcare Network, Harrington orchestrated a fraudulent scheme. He submitted misleading expense reports to seek reimbursement for the purchase of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines.

Harrington went further by furnishing false invoices to his employer, falsely indicating he had made significant payments for medical equipment when, in reality, no such purchases had been made. As a result, First Community Care of Bassett unwittingly issued checks amounting to over $150,000.00 to Harrington for reimbursement.

In addition to being placed on federal probation and ordered to pay restitution, Harrington was further penalized with six months of home confinement and a $5,500.00 fine.
