Governor Cuomo Announces $25 Million in Child Care Scholarships
Governor Cuomo announced the state will provide $25 million dollars in child care scholarships to all essential workers.
According to a news release from the governor’s office, the $25 million dollar scholarship program began yesterday (June 23, 2021) and will include first responders, law enforcement, firefighters, transportation workers, pharmaceutical staff ,food delivery workers and many others that fall under the essential workers category.
In the release Governor Cuomo said "Essential workers have always been the backbone of our economy, they got us through the darkest hours of the pandemic and are playing a critical role in our reopening and recovery,"
Any essential staff whose family income is $79,500 or less for a family of four will have child care costs covered for children aged six weeks to 12 years.
The release states that the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES) will end on June 28, 2021 and those who are currently receiving CARES scholarships will need to reapply
The applications can be submitted on line now but must be completed by June 28, 2021
