Demolition crews are tearing down a few old structures near the Goodwill Theatre in Johnson City.

Gorick Construction workers Monday began removing a pair of apartment houses at 47 and 51 Broad Street near the Firehouse Stage.

Goodwill Theatre chief executive officer Naima Kradjian said another house at 28 Willow Street also will be demolished this week.

Kradjian said plans call for the expansion of the back of the stage house. Doors and windows on the historic Goodwill Theatre building also are to be replaced or repaired.

The facilities are located northeast of the Binghamton University Pharmacy School building on Corliss Avenue.
