The Chenango County man recently convicted in the murder of his wife and who is awaiting sentencing, is accused of trying to bribe his way out of jail.

Ganesh Ramsaran is accused of offering a corrections officer $100,000 dollars to help him get out of the county jail.

The officer immediately notified his supervisor and Ramsaran was charged with felony bribery.

Ramsaran was arraigned on the additional charge and sent back to the Chenango County Jail with additional bail set at $1,000.

The new charge could add fifteen years to a prison sentence that could run consecutive to what Ramsaran will get for the murder conviction.

The murder conviction is expected to be appealed.

The sentencing for murder is scheduled for December first.

Officials say the investigation into the bribery allegation is continuing and more charges are possible.
