Funeral Arraignments Set for Maestro Peyton Hibbitt

Tributes continue to come in for the co-founder of the Tri-Cities Opera in Binghamton while funeral details are announced.

Maestro Peyton Hibbitt passed away March 1 at the age of 93.

Along with the late Carmen Savoca, Hibbitt founded the Binghamton opera company in 1949 and nurtured young talent over the decades in his nationally-renowned Resident Artist Training Program.

A funeral service is planned for march 9 at 11 a.m. at Main Street Baptist Church, 117 Main Street, Binghamton.

A notice from Tri-Cities Opera said arrangements for calling hours and burial have not yet been completed.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Main Street Baptist Church, the Alzheimer's Association, 401 Hayes Avenue, Endicott, New York 13760 or the charity of one's choice.
