The former Susquehanna, Pennsylvania Fire Chief has passed away.

Robert Burns died at his home February 18 at the age of 84.

According to the obituary placed by the family, Burns taught Special Education for over 37 years in the Susquehanna Community School District, volunteered for a number or organizations and was a lifetime member of the Susquehanna Fire Department, where he not only served as Chief but also President.

The family will receive friends at Hennessey’s Funeral Home in Susquehanna Friday, February 26 from 4 to 7 p.m.  A funeral mass will be held Saturday, February 27 at 10 a.m. at Saint John’s Roman Catholic Church on East Church Street in Susquehanna.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Susquehanna Fire Department, PO Box 174, Susquehanna, Pa. 18847.
