Flying Ice Injures Driver On I81 in New Milford

Pennsylvania State Police say an Oswego County, New York man driving on Interstate 81 North in Susquehanna County on January 19 suffered injuries to his face and arm and damage to his vehicle when a large piece of ice few off a tractor trailer as he was starting to pass the 18-wheeler.

57-year-old William Saber of Lacona was not seriously hurt but his station wagon sustained functional damage when the ice hit his windshield.

The incident happened shortly after 12:30 in the afternoon in New Milford.

The driver of the tractor trailer, 34-year-old Jorge Fernadez-Cabrera of Freeland, Pennsylvania was not hurt.  He was given a secured load violation.

Motorists are reminded to clear snow and ice not only from their windows but the tops of their vehicles and be cautious around high profile vehicles and tractor trailers.
