The series started out as “Our Gang” in 1922 and the original kid stars, included Allen Hoskins as “Little Farina”, Mickey Daniels, and Ernie Morrison, who played the character "Sunshine Sammy".

The Our Gang stars, as most of us remember included Carl “Alfalfa” Switzer, George “Spanky” McFarland, Darla Hood, and William Thomas Jr as “Buckwheat”.

There was also the character “Stymie” played by Matthew Beard.

Jackie Cooper was probably the most famous as an adult star, his career went on long after the rascal days.

I remember watching the Little Rascals re-runs after school and on the weekends, they were old then, but still funny.

I think what makes this group of depression era children so enduring, is the typical kid reactions that are relatable to any time period.

Kids always prank each other, and then of course there are the bullies, like “Butch” and the first loves, like Alfalfa and Darla.

You don’t see many of the Little Rascal / Our Gang series on television anymore, the show went into syndication in 1955, but has fallen out of the regular TV lineup.

Steaming services like Netflix still offer episodes to view, and they are available for purchase on video.

Check out some videos on the history of the series, and some enduring episodes below, as we flashback to “the Little Rascals”
