First Place Binghamton Mets Host Bowie Tonight
The first-place Binghamton Mets begin a weekend series tonight at NYSEG Stadium versus the Bowie Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Game-time is 7:05 (airtime at 6:50 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).
The only thing to cool off the red-hot B-Mets this week was the weather. Last night's series finale in Trenton was delayed for a couple of hours and finally postponed. The game will be made-up as part of a doubleheader at a date to be announced later.
Binghamton with a record of 40-25 leads the Eastern Division by five and one-half games over Portland and by seven over Trenton. The Baysox are 30-32 and trail Western Division leader Erie by three games. Tonight's pitching match-up will have the B-Mets Cory Mazzoni on the hill against Tyler Wilson. Mazzoni is 2-1 and Wilson has no won-lost record.
With a 40-25 record the B-Mets are 15 games over the .500 mark for the first time since September 1, 2004. Josh Rodriguez enters tonight's game with a 23- game hitting streak. The B-Mets are riding a six-game winnng streak and are 9-1 so far in June.
