Fire Forces Brief Evacuation at Raymond Corp.

 No injuries are reported after firefighters were called to Raymond Corporation in Greene April 10.

A fire was reported at Chenango County’s largest employer at around 8:30 p.m. and smoke could be seen coming from the complex.  Employees were evacuated from the part of the facility where the fire was reported.

Officials say some welding equipment apparently caught fire. The small blaze was quickly put out by firefighters from Greene, Coventry and Oxford in less than an hour.

Authorities are still looking into the problem with the welding equipment.
