Fire Destroys Barn in Afton

Firefighters from a half-dozen companies in Chenango County with Broome County offering mutual aid responded to the blaze on Corbin Road in Afton at 10:38 p.m. and remained on the scene for over four-and-a-half hours, until 3:25 a.m., July 29.

There were no reported injuries and Emergency Services officials did not believe any livestock was lost.

The structure was a total loss and a nearby house reportedly suffered some damage.
