No serious injuries are being reported after fire tore through a home in Vestal late Saturday night, November 12. 

Few details area available but firefighters were called to a home in the 23-hundred block of Hemlock Lane at around 11 Saturday night and found heavy fire and smoke on the first floor with the fire rapidly spreading.  

A second alarm was sounded for the home at 2317 Hemlock, which is located just a short distance west of the Vestal Middle School, as firefighters shifted to an external attack on the blaze.

There were reports that one person was evaluated after suffering smoke inhalation. 

In addition to personnel and equipment from the Vestal Fire stations, additional equipment responded from West Corners and Endwell firefighters assisted in covering the Town while the Vestal firefighters were on the scene. 

The home is believed to have suffered extensive damage. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

There was no indication that anyone had been transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

There’s no word on how long Vestal Firefighters spent at the scene but activity at the site is believed to have continued into the early morning hours of November 13. 

The house is located about three residences to the west from the East Benita Boulevard intersection and is north of Pierce Hill Road. 

There was no word of damage to neighboring properties while video from the scene showed the flames raging along a back deck area. 

The home is located in a quiet residential neighborhood west of African Road and set well to the South of the busy Vestal Parkway retail corridor.
