Investigators say the 5:30 p.m. blaze appears to have started in a first floor apartment as the result of a malfunction in an extension cord.

Fire was contained to the single apartment but there was smoke and water damage reported throughout the building.

There was no indication in the State Police news release of how many people were living in the building.

Authorities say there were no injuries.
