The Literacy Volunteers of Broome-Tioga Counties is holding a Family Fun & Literacy Awareness Day this Saturday, October 19 from Noon to 4:00 PM.  The event is designed for families and people of all ages.  The organization's mission statement is to assist adults in developing literacy skills.  

Saturday's event will be held at the Broome County Public Library, 185 Court Street in Binghamton.  there is no admission charge.  The group has lined up a wide variety activities throughout the afternoon.

Some of the activities include an appearance from Animal Adventure from 12- 2 PM, Meet the Vet from 12-4:00 PM, an appearance by a police dog during the afternoon and a children's book author from 1:30 to 3:30 PM.  Jan Lewis Zelesnikar is the co-author of the Silly Nomads Series and will highlight "Jooba Goes to the Market."

Renelle Pereira and Paul Suarez from the Literacy Volunteers of Broome-Tioga Counties were guests on First News with Roger Neel on Tuesday morning.  They discussed Saturday's activities and invited the community to attend.
