Man Charged After Police Pursuit in Endicott and Endwell

A man was arrested after a police pursuit that started in Endicott and wound up in a residential neighborhood in Endwell.

An Endicott police officer reportedly tried to stop a 2017 Honda Civic that had been reported stolen in Johnson City two days earlier.

The car didn't pull over in the area of Broad Street and Garfield Avenue around 1:20 p.m. Friday. The vehicle instead continued on as it was pursued to Endicott's North Side.

Endicott police continued to track the car into Endwell, where it traveled east on Country Club Road and north into a residential area.

At one point, the vehicle apparently traveled through the Church of the Holy Family parking lot before heading south.

Broome County sheriff's deputies and state troopers assisted in the pursuit.

The car eventually turned into a parking lot of the Squire Colony apartment complex off Smith Drive. The man then ditched the vehicle and ran through the neighborhood.

Police searched the area and spotted the suspected driver walking on Columbia Drive a few minutes later. He claimed he lived in a home on that street, which was not true. Officers took him into custody without incident.

Authorities said the man, 58-year-old David Kucko of Endwell, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and unlawfully fleeing a police officer. He also was cited for several vehicle and traffic violations.
