Endicott Man Charged In Gasoline Attack

An Endicott man was sent to Broome County Jail after a dispute in which he allegedly poured gasoline on a woman and flicked a cigarette toward her.

Authorities say 54-year-old Mark Geertgens of East Main Street was charged with attempted assault following Sunday's incident.

Police say the lit cigarette did not strike the woman and did not cause the gasoline to ignite.

Geertgens was charged with first-degree attempted assault, a felony.

Geertgens was arraigned in Endicott village court and ordered held without bail.
