The non-emergency number for Broome County’s Emergency Services dispatch center and some other phone systems in the Binghamton area are not working.

Officials say an internet/ fiber optic problem is believed to have derailed the main Sheriff’s office number (607) 778-1911.  The emergency 911 line is working.

Anyone needing to talk to the Sheriff’s office can call 778-1010.

Dispatchers have not reported any major communications problems given the number that has an issue is a non-emergency line for the Broome County Sheriff’s office.

There are also reports of disruption of phone service for United Health Services hospitals and Lourdes Hospital.
