I am so sick of robocalls. I know you are too. Every day, I get calls from phone numbers that I do not recognize. Not that would normally be a problem if I wasn't receiving so many robocalls, but it is, and therefore, if I don't recognize the phone number or a person or business name doesn't come up on my phone, I won't answer it.

And that could mean I might miss an important call. As a matter of fact, today I received a call with a local number and I almost didn't answer it. But for some reason I did and turns out, it was a co-worker calling to tell me he was having trouble with a station car door remote.

I want to answer my phone, but as long as robocalls continue I will not answer calls I do not recognize just to hear a message telling me my extended warranty is up. But, help may be on the way.

New York State Governor Kathy Hochul has signed into legislation, a package to crack down on robocalls. That sounds good to me, but what does it mean? According to Governor's website, it will "require telecommunication companies to block robocalls from certain numbers to prevent unwanted robocalls across additional providers."

"This legislation will enable telecom companies to prevent these calls from coming in in the first place, as well as empower our state government to ensure that voice service providers are validating who is making these calls so enforcement action can be taken against bad actors."   - New York State Governor Kathy Hochul

It would be nice to not have to worry about who's on the other end of the phone when you receive a call. Well, unless it's a bill collector. I'll continue to avoid those calls.
