Drugs Disguised as Candy Appear in Southern Tier
Officials in the Southern Tier are warning residents about drugs that are circulating that are made to look like a popular candy.
Authorities in Chemung County say they have encountered a potentially deadly mix of fentanyl, heroin and Xantax that has been pressed into a pill form that looks like Sweet Tarts candy. Some of the pills have an “S” stamped on the surface to further replicate the appearance of a Sweet Tart candy.
Police say the toxic drugs can even be absorbed through the skin of anyone who touches the pellets.
Anyone encountering suspicious items should contact police.
