Drug Ring Suspect Being Held in Tioga County Jail
A man suspected of being involved in a drug distribution network has been taken into custody and sent to Tioga County Jail.
Authorities say 40-year-old Arthur Erskine of Ithaca was found in Utica. He was arrested by United States Marshals Tuesday morning.
Erskine had been sought on a warrant issued by Tioga County Court. He was one of 31 people identified in May as suspects involved with heroin distribution in the Finger Lakes region.
Several law enforcement agencies worked on the lengthy investigation that resulted in a 217-count indictment that included felony charges of criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance.
Many of the people charged in the case were from Ithaca but some were from Candor, Spencer and Cortland.
Although most of the suspects identified in the investigation were in custody when the operation was announced, police said six people had not yet been located.
