Former Drovers Inn in Vestal Being Transformed Into Event Center

A 19th century Vestal inn is being turned into a boutique hotel that will serve as a site for special events.

Construction work is continuing on the transformation project at the historic Drovers Inn building on Pumphouse Road, just off Main Street.

Owner Jeannie Post said she now hopes to have at least the first floor open for holiday season events.

The Trailside Inn will feature a restaurant and pub, as well as five guest rooms.

Most of the exterior work, including the addition of a patio for outdoor seating, has been completed.

A new water line was installed by the town over the summer to adequately supply the Trailside Inn.

According to a historical marker at the site, the building was constructed in 1844 by John and Jacob Rounds as a stopover for drovers. The sign also indicates the place was the "scene of many political discussions."

The property has been occupied by restaurants and other businesses over the years.
