Driver Ticketed for Route 17 Crash Straddling Concrete Barrier
A tractor trailer driver from Florida is being ticketed for a crash on Route 17 east near Airport Road that snarled traffic for the afternoon commute October 6.
Broome Sheriff’s Deputies say 26-year-old Angel Araurjo Reyes of Casselberry lost control while changing lanes at about 4:25 p.m. and hit the concrete center median barrier.
The tractor went onto the barrier and the still-attached-trailer went over the concrete onto the westbound lanes.
A westbound vehicle sustained damage from the debris flying from the trailer.
The left and center lanes were closed until about 8:30 p.m.
At around 7:30, another crash was reported roughly in the same area on Route 17 east at exit 72. There was an injury reported in that crash but it was not believed to be serious.
Araurjo Reyes was ticketed for unsafe lane change and speeding.
