Driver Killed After Stepping Out of Disabled Vehicle on I-81
Pennsylvania State Police say a spin-out on a snowy Interstate 81 December 2 became deadly after a motorist got out of his disabled vehicle.
Authorities say 24-year-old Hiroito Oshiro Yengle of Scranton was killed when he got out of his Subaru Outback that had become disabled in the left lane after spinning out on I-81 north in Scott Township at 1:33 p.m.and was hit by another vehicle.
Troopers say the driver of that other vehicle, 29-year-old Kwang Jae Kim of Fullerton, California was not hurt but his passenger, 70-year-old Joseph Kim of Norwalk, California is believed to have suffered serious injuries and was taken to Geisinger Medical Center. The passenger apparently was not wearing a seat belt.
Authorities remind motorists to stay inside their vehicle if they are involved in a crash if it is safe to do so.
