A Johnson City man was injured in a car crash on Route 434 near the Vestal town hall.

Authorities say 26-year-old Zaid Rahman lost control of the vehicle he was driving when he tried to change lanes to pass another motorist around 8 a.m. Monday.

Police say Rahman's eastbound car struck the other vehicle and veered across the westbound lanes. The car then slammed into a utility pole at 610 Vestal Parkway West in front of a vacant store.

The base of the pole was splintered by the impact of the vehicle, which sustained heavy damage.

Rahman was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment of his injuries. His condition was not known.
