Two brothers have been arrested following a series of break-ins at homes in Chenango County.

Authorities say both suspects are residents of Cortland. 24-year-old Matthew Maricle and 20-year-old Michael Maricle are accused of forcibly entering houses in Plymouth and Pharsalia.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office investigators say they recovered DNA evidence at a burglary scene which helped lead to the arrests.

The brothers were arrested on Friday. They allegedly stole firearms and other items from the homes. Both suspects were arraigned in Oxford town court.

A news release did not indicate when the burglaries occurred.

Officials in Chenango County say more arrests are expected as a result of the joint investigation that was conducted with the New York State Police, Tioga County Sheriff's Office, Cortland County Sheriff's Office. Cortland city police also assisted.
