Delhi Caregiver Accused of Stealing Client’s Credit Card
Delaware County Sheriff’s officials are reminding people seeking private home health care assistance to thoroughly research prospective providers.
The warning comes after 31-year-old Brandi Wyckoff of Delhi was arrested this month, accused of using the credit card of an elderly person she was caring for last year.
Investigators say Wyckoff was hired as a home health care aide for an ailing, elderly Town of Delhi resident between August and October. She was arrested following an investigation into the patient’s credit card being stolen and a number of transactions being made on the card totaling more than$1,000 in September.
Wyckoff was arrested February 1 and charged with felony grand larceny and three misdemeanor counts of petit larceny.
Previously, New York State Police announced an Otsego County woman hired to care for a Richfield Springs resident was arrested for allegedly using the patient’s debit card information to rack up over $2,300 in purchases.
38-year-old Crystal Ray of Richfield Springs was charged with felony identity theft and two counts of grand larceny as well as misdemeanor criminal possession of personal identification.
