Delaware Sheriff Investigates Hancock Break-ins
Delaware County Sheriff's officials are investigating burglaries at a convenience store and the U.S. Post Office in Hancock.
Authorities say at around 2:15 a.m. December 9 Deputies responded to an electronic alarm at the Mirabito Convenience Store and Subway shop on West Main Street in the Village.
Officers arrived within minutes and found someone had forcibly entered the business and stole cash registers containing a small amount of money.
The store surveillance camera captured an image of a masked intruder.
A little over four hours later, the Delaware County 911 Center got a report of an overnight burglary at the Post Office.
That building had also been forcibly entered and items taken.
The Delaware County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division, Hancock Village Police Department and United States Postal Inspection Service are conducting a collaborative investigation.
Anyone with information about the Mirabito break-in between 1 and 3 a.m. Monday is encouraged to contact Investigator David Barnes at the Delaware County Sheriff's Office at (607) 832-5629.
