Authorities say 38-year-old Jamal Abrams of Delhi was charged with second-degree attempted murder following the Friday night incident in the Town of Delhi.

Investigators say Abrams also was charged with assault, unlawful imprisonment and criminal possession of a weapon.

According to the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, a woman called 911 to report a dispute at the Buena Vista Motel on Route 28.

The woman told deputies a man had held her captive and beat her before she was able to escape from the room. She said after she had called for help, the man chased her down and again began to beat her with a glass bottle.

The woman sustained cuts to the face and legs. She also lost several teeth in the attack. She was being treated at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. Her condition was not released.

Abrams was arraigned in Delhi town court. He was sent to Delaware County Jail on $100,000 bail.
