Delaware County Man Charged For Alleged Dog Fighting Operation
Delaware County Sheriff Craig DuMond is hosting a news conference at the Humane Society in Sidney to announce an arrest and charges against a Franklin man for alleged abuse of animals for the purpose of dog fighting.
20 dogs were seized for a home earlier this month and Humane Societies in Binghamton and Cooperstown stepped forward to help the Delaware Valley SPCA care for the animals.
The canines were said to be friendly, showing no signs of aggression in spite of many of them being in very poor physical condition.
The groups assisting in the dog rescue say the animals were found in a barn in small crates, stacked on top of each other.
The owner reportedly surrendered the animals, which clears the way for a faster rehabilitation and adoption for the dogs.
