Chenango County Sheriff’s officials say a woman and her two children, who died when their home on German Hollow Road in the Town of Plymouth burned January 22, all succumbed to smoke inhalation.

Investigators say the blaze that claimed the lives of 33 year old Debbie Pfeiffer, 10 year old Amber Morrow and 1 year old Benjamin Pfeiffer began in an area of a wood stove being used to heat the home.

Pfeiffer’s husband had already left for work when the blaze was discovered by a snow plow driver at around 4:40 a.m.

Seven fire companies responded to the scene but were hampered by icy conditions.

Chenango County Emergency Services officials say two Plymouth Fire Department members sustained minor injuries when the water tanker truck they were in rolled over.

Chenango County Sheriff’s officials say the investigation has concluded.
