Date Revealed for Opening of Owego “Grand Union” Supermarket
The Tops Markets supermarket in Owego is about to close as part of the process of converting the location to a "Grand Union" store.
The supermarket on Route 17C just west of the Lockheed Martin plant is one of twelve stores acquired by C&S Wholesale Grocers as part of a November merger involving Price Chopper and Tops.
The Owego Tops supermarket will close at 3 p.m. Sunday. The store is scheduled to reopen as "Grand Union" on January 30.
C&S Wholesale Grocers has announced a grand opening event at the location is set for March 5.
The Owego store is one of the first stores to undergo the transformation to Grand Union.
C&S representatives could not be reached for comment on what the change will mean for current Tops employees and customers.
